Eastham Close: 14 May 2011

A petition has been gathered by local resident Mr Robert Whyman containing 159 signatures. It calls for the construction of the two controversial houses now being built on the Eastham Close site to be stopped and removed. Mr Mark Charlton of the City Council Regeneration Dept., and a representative from LHA_ASRA is to meet with Mr Whyman at his home at 3:45 PM on Tuesday 17th May. I will be their along with Caroline Longbridge from the Nottingham Evening Post.

Work has now begun on the upper level of the long accommodation block on the Eastham Close Site, however, the bottom row of housing units is drawing much attention because of their small size. From floor to ceiling they are about 6 feet in height, so that an average size person is walking around inside with their head close to the ceiling! There is no ventilation in any of these lower rooms, and there are no stairs linking each of the lower rooms with the upper level --- ideal accommodation if you happen to be a midget!
